A phobia is an anxiety disorder defined by a persistent and excessive fear of an object or situation. Phobias typically result in a rapid onset of fear and are usually present for more than six months. This is a group of disorders when severe anxiety is evoked only or predominantly by certain situations or objects which are not currently dangerous.

So the person tries to avoid these situations or objects or when faces those things severe anxiety occurs.

There can be excess heart beat , sweating, fainting attack , loosing control over self . Even after reassurance that the situation that causes intense anxiety is not really a serious problem , the patient can not get himself or herself out from that psychological situation . With proper treatment from a Neuropsychiatrist the patient gets well soon . Proper medicine and psychotherapy would make the patient fully functional .
